*** Stretch Armstrong Yoga From Far, Far Away ***

During lockdown the shape of my Yoga business has changed almost beyond recognition. I will continue to offer this hybrid package for the foreseeable future. The package is offered in a six week block for £42, comprising of:-

A link to a YouTube video every week for the lesson (50 – 55 minutes)
A link to a YouTube video every week for a relaxation practice (10 – 15 minutes)
A link to a YouTube video every other week for a breathing practice (10 minutes)
A lesson plan which can be printed out if you prefer to practise away from your device

Invitations to six Zoom sessions throughout the week (one hour)

All YouTube videos are unlisted for insurance purposes.

The Zoom timetable looks like this.

Mondays 10:00 until 11:00 and 18:00 until 19:00
Tuesdays 18:00 until 19:00
Wednesdays 10:00 until 11:00 and 18:00 until 19:00
Thursdays 10:00 until 11:00

You will receive all of the above every week and it’s then up to you which elements you gain access to, depending upon which suit your individual needs.

This might be a great way for you to get back to my classes when you weren’t able to come to group sessions so please contact me if you’ve been to my classes in the past. It’s always great to welcome returning students.

Who knows when we’ll be able to return to group classes? In the meantime this is a great alternative. I’m currently working on turning myself into a hologram to appear in your front rooms. Be afraid, be very afraid!

*** Operation Cunning Plan ***

So, my Cunning Plan has come to fruition! I started by sending lesson plans and audio recordings to my students. Then I introduced YouTube videos. And then I was introduced to the world of Zoom. I wasn’t sure. In fact I was adamant I wouldn’t be using Zoom. But after a week of Zoom sessions, I’m a convert. If you’ve been to my classes in the past and would like some Yoga in your life to help you through these strange times please get in touch. Who doesn’t need Yoga and my inappropriate comments to get you through this?

*** Remote Teaching ***

Whilst I am unable to teach group sessions during this continued lockdown, I have been able to deliver remote classes. I’m making every effort to provide structured lessons to my students on a weekly basis until lockdown has been lifted. It’s been a steep (and at times stressful) learning curve whilst I adapt to remote teaching instead of face to face but I’m up for the challenge if you are! I appreciate the support of all my wonderful students who have continued their practice with my guidance during these uncertain times. If you’d like to know more, please do get in touch. Take care, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all again in group classes once this is all behind us.

*** Announcement ***

Due to current Government Guidelines on group gatherings, I have made the decision to suspend all group classes for the foreseeable future. Stay safe and hopefully we will all be back to normal very soon.

*** BWY Statement ***

The BWY Statement on coronavirus Covid-19: The BWY would like to reassure members that we are mindful of the situation with coronavirus and we continue to monitor it daily. Our position is as follows: First and foremost, let’s practice our yogic principles, remain balanced and rational but at the same take sensible steps to protect ourselves as practitioners, teachers and responsible adults. At this stage we have limited information about what risks the coronavirus poses for those attending yoga classes and for our teaching members. This is an issue not just for us as individuals, yoga students and teachers, but for the country as a whole. The situation is fluid and so a definitive stance is too rigid and we therefore advise members of the BWY to ensure that they follow Public Health England (PHE) guidelines which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

In addition; for our Teachers we would also recommend:

•Following government guidelines and advising all students not to attend classes if they are/ or think they might be in breach of these (re: return travel, flu like systems etc.).

•Consulting gyms/leisure centres where you teach classes to ensure you adhere to their COVID-19 protocol.

•Asking students to bring their own mat/equipment to classes and avoid sharing.

•Ensuring hand sanitiser is available at the start and end of every class.•Washing hands on a regular basis.

•Avoiding hands on adjustments and favouring verbal communications instead.

•Monitoring local and national media and keeping an open mind about cancelling classes. Our insurance provider confirms that: All our BWY teachers remain covered for Public Liability Insurance. If in the extremely unlikely event that someone was to take legal action against you because they had, or claimed to have, contracted the virus in one of your classes, the Public Liability insurance would protect you and provide cover to pay any compensation and costs and expenses incurred. Coronavirus would fall within the category of “bodily injury” which is defined as death, injury (and crucially) illness. As with any other claim this would remain subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. In line with any other insurance provider and any other claim, the cover provided will be valid so long as the teacher has followed current government advice from Public Health England and has not breached any of the other conditions of insurance. We will issue updates to our position and to this statement as the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), World Health Organisation (WHO), Public Health England (PHE) and other sources becomes available, but if you have any further queries, please do get in touch with us: office@bwy.org.ukNumber of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and risk in the UKgov.uk
